Sugar Cane Train has been in operation as a tourist attraction since 1969. Since then we've held approximately 7 million passengers. At the Lahaina Station the first thing you probably notice is that when we turn the locomotives around on the turntable the kids enjoy that. Behind the station we have an authentic 1908 Baldwin locomotive with a history here in Hawaii.
When you ride the Sugar Cane Train first off you get to ride an authentic steam engine and it's a real part of the history of Lahaina and the west side of Maui. This is how they used to haul the sugar cane to the mill and you get great views of Lanai, Molokini. Depending on the time of the year out there on the harbor you can see ships, submarines, in the winter months you see whales out there. In the other directions you see the West Maui Mountains which are called Pu'u Kukui, which, incidentally is the second wettest spot on the earth.
- The Sugar Cane Train is a fun treat for younger kids who are train buffs.
