Quick Cape Costume

Hi, I'm Lee Woodruff at the crafts table with Family Fun. Kids love to dress up for Halloween, but becoming your favorite super hero can be pretty exciting any time of year. This no so project can be made with three simple items.

You'll need some ribbon, a pair of scissors, and a large piece of felt. Use a large piece of felt about 32 inches square. First, you cut the basic cape shape out of the felt. To make it more symmetrical you can fold the fabric in half before you cut. Now, for that classic super power look, cut this arching pattern across the bottom of the cape. Then make twelve slits about 1 Ω inch apart and 2 inches below the top of the cape. Now you can thread about five feet of ribbon through the slits and it's ready to wear. To put it on, just lay it over your child's back and wrap the ribbon over his shoulder like a bag pack. You can an eye mask and some PJs for a superhero costume. Tie it up in back and you've got some high flying fashion ready for action any time of the year.
