July 4th Bracelet

This 4th of July or any other time of year put your patriotism on display with this red, white, and blue wristband. I'm Lee Woodruff at the craft table with Family Fun and this easy to make bracelet works for kids of all ages.

You'll need one yard of white plastic lace, two yards of blue plastic lace, and a dozen or so red pony beads. Fold each of the two strands of plastic lace in half, then tie them together with an overhand knot near the folds, creating a half inch loop. Tape the blue loop on top of the white loop to your work surface, or use a clipboard to secure the stands in place while you work. Label the left blue strand A and the right blue strand B with small pieces of tape. Slip a bead onto the two white strands, keeping the white strands taut at all times. Now, cross strand A over the white strands and under strand B. Pass strand B under the white strands and through the loop created by strand A. Pull the blue strands taut. Cross A back over the two white strands and under B. Pass strand B under the white strands and through the loop created by A. Pull the blue strands taut again. Just keep going until your bracelet is the right length. To finish it off, remove the looped end from your work surface and slip the free ends of two of the four strands through both of the loops. Tie all four ends into an overhand knot after the loop, making sure the bracelet is long enough to slip on and off your child's wrist. Trim any excess length from the laces and the bracelet is ready to wear. Switch up the colors to coordinate with your favorite outfit, holiday, or season.
