Historic Cold Spring Village is a 22 acre living history museum that recreates what life was like in a rural American village of the early 1800's. We have a collection of twenty-six historic buildings in which we show you how people did their tasks around the house, how they did different jobs, so you get to see a representative example of how Americans lived and worked almost two hundred years ago.
You have to put this against the piece of wood of like this and you would have to start turning. You could try it if you want.
Certainly children in particular seeing things, touching things, is very important to them. For an adult it's good enough to just talk about it. For a child they really want to see what it is you're trying to explain to them. Well, it's always enjoyable to see a child, a gleam in their eye, when they really start to grasp how different life was like for their ancestors, just by simply holding a tool.
GUIDE: can you swing a hammer?
DAD: Do you know how to use a hammer?
GUIDE: Yeah, couple more .
DAD: A little harder buddy, little harder.
GUIDE: We got a ring.
DAD: Good job buddy.
