Ok, your favorite pair of jeans is worn out, don't toss them. I'm Lee Woodruff at the craft table with Family Fun and we'll show you how to take an old pair of pants and turn them into a fun book bag. You'll need a pair of jeans, fabric scissors, a sewing machine, or a needle and thread, and a cotton belt. First zip the jeans and turn them inside out. With a pair of fabric scissors, a parent's job, cut off the legs three inches below the crotch. Next, fold the cutoff jeans, matching up the side seems as you would depress front and back leg pleats. Using a sewing machine, or a close even hand stitch, sew closed each leg opening, one inch from the cut edge. Then, trim the denim a half inch from the stitching. Turn the jeans right side out. For and handle, get 2 colorful belts and attach one end each around the side loop. Buckle together in the middle, and adjust as needed. Get creative for one of a kind designed decorate with embroidery, apple case, or even fabric paint.
