Ingredients
1 1/2 Cups Sugar
1 Egg
1/2 Cup Sour Cream
1 teaspoon Vanilla
3 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
4 Cups Sifted Flour
(optional) Can of Chocolate Frosting
How to Make
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large bowl, sift together dry ingredients: Baking Powder, Baking Soda, Salt, Cinnamon, and Flour. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together, butter and sugar. Add egg and mix well. Add sour cream, vanilla, and melted unsweetened chocolate, and mix. After ingredients are well blended, add dry ingredients a little at a time until mixed in well and dough is formed. Wrap dough tightly in plastic wrap and chill for several hours.
When dough has chilled, roll to a thickness of 1/4" and cut out with a large bear shaped cookie cutter. With a smaller heart shaped cookie cutter, carefully cut out a heart in the middle section of the already cut-out bear. Line a cookie sheet with a large sheet of aluminum foil and carefully place bear-heart cut-outs onto the foil lined cookie sheet. In a small plastic bag, place cinnamon-hot hard candies (such as Jolly Ranchers), at least one for each cookie. Carefully, bang on the hard candies with a hammer or other hard object until crushed into smaller chunks. sprinkle enough chunks onto the heart shaped cut-out of the bears to cover the area in the pan. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes. Let cookies cool completely before removing them from the foil, in order to let the hard candy center set up. For more authentic chocolate-dipping fun, dip the cookies in a can of chocolate frosting. Enjoy!
Home Made for the Holidays
- Avoid clutter. Keep the background simple -- your cupcake or sweet treat is the star!
- Daytime, natural light is best. If your area is bright enough, try taking the photo without the flash.
- Upload a horizontal photo. If you crop the image on your computer, make sure you keep a landscape 4:3 aspect ratio.
- For best results, make your image 1200x900 (or "save for web").
- With a digital camera, you can take as many photos as possible and choose the best one. Have fun!
