One box Duncan Hines Red Velvet cake mix
3 eggs
1 ¼ cup water
1/3 cup oil

One brick cream cheese, room temperature
1 ts vanilla
2 TB sugar
3 TB mini chocolate chips

One container of Duncan Hines Cream Cheese Frosting
Food dyes
Decorating gel preferably pink.
Large muffin tin.
Tin Foil
Muffin tin liners

How to Make

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Line muffin tin with liners. Roll strips of tin foil into small balls about the size of a hazelnut.

Mix cake mix according to directions using the eggs, water and oil. Set aside.

Mix Cream cheese, vanilla, sugar together until combined. Mix in chocolate chips. Set aside.

Fill muffin tins half way. (Remember when filling muffins to only completely fill ¾ of the way)

Place one tin foil ball between pan and liner. This will assist to mold the cup cake into a heart. Of course, if you have access to heart pans, then disregard this process.

Take cream cheese, and dividing evenly, scoop dollops into the middle of each first layer of mix and press in slightly.

Carefully cover the dollops with the remainder of the mix.

Bake according to the directions on the box.

While baking, take the cream cheese frosting and divide into 6 containers. Add a SMALL amount of food dye into each container. The goal here is to get a light, subtle color to the frosting. Mix each well and set aside.

Once the cupcakes are cooled, frost each with the icing. Decorate each heart with the writing gel. Use cute, lovely saying like, I love You, U Rock, Hugs and Kisses, XXOO.
