What I've Been Talking About
Babies Begin Learning Language As Early As 10 Months
Hi, My son is 11 mo 2weeks old and he says phrases such as I GOT IT and I did it. He says his name in two ways AJ and Alec, he says dog and mama and dada, hi,hey. My day care says that this is not normal. He has been saying most of these words for over a month, dada since he was 6mo.mama at 7 1/2 I would love to hear what you guys think.
Sincerely,
Roxanne

One more thing, if your son is speaking so well at such a young age, I wouldn't necessarily call it "not normal." Pretty gosh-darned amazing, perhaps would be my description ;o)
Not Acceptable?Hi Roxanne,I'm not sure what your day care means by "normal." Each of my four children started speaking as early as your little boy, but they also developed their speech at different rates. My middle girl was evaluated and took speech classes in 2nd and 3rd grade (a total of 13 months to help her with pronunciation of "s") and my youngest has difficulty with f, s and r. But, the teachers I've come into contact with (including my youngest day care) agreed that children work out their speech and language issues as early as kindergarten and can be evaluated earlier, if there is a true concern, say with hearing or speech difficulties. Speaking with your pediatrician would certainly help put your mind at ease. Good luck.
