My Quote

Mothers should trust their intuition!

About Me

I created the Mamawell website (www.mamawell.com) as a dedicated resource for pregnant and postpartum mothers. After my first pregnancy, I found the postpartum period to be a generally isolating period, with so much attention focused on the baby and so little attention focused on the recovering mother. After my second child, the site really started to take off with subjects that try to bridge the gap between the medical and alternative world. If East could meet West for pregnant and postpartum mothers, this is where it would be. I am 36 years old and live in the New York area with my husband and two kids. I LOVE comments and feedbacks and encourages all women to trust their intuition!

Effective Birthing Positions

July 05, 2007

I found in the throws of labor that my body seemed to know what to do. For both of my pregnancies at some point I was standing with my head firmly stuck in the bed in a kind of L shape. This let me arch my back in such a way that I was able to literally move the pain around....

Coping With Labor Related Fears

June 14, 2007

I think this is a really helpful article. My first baby was induced so I didn't know what to expect with the second. In the end my water broke while I was in the bath tub at home dilating about 2-3 cm. Here is my birth story: http://www.mamawell.com/mamawell/2007/02/baby-leia-6lbs-and-110z-cuuuuuuuuuute-plus-my-honest-account-of-delivery-and-what-you-need-to-take-to-the-hospital.html

I think this is all really helpful. My first labor was induced so I really didn't know what to expect the second time round. In the end my water broke while in the bathtub may 2-3cm dilated. Here's my birth story. Would love to hear yours....
