"Seabiscuit" -- Another inspired-by-a-true-story movie, this time about a racehorse who started as a sure loser and ended up one of the country's best racehorses. (Pre-teens and teens)
"First Saturday in May" -- This documentary follows several horses as they and their handlers prepare for the Kentucky Derby over the course of a few years. Horse-loving pre-teens and teens will love the real-world access and engrossing stories featured in this award-winning movie. (Pre-teens and teens)
A Hot Brown -- The deliciously simple yet decadent open-faced sandwich with endless variations, made famous at Louisville's Brown Hotel.
Cornbread -- A staple on the Kentucky frontier and considered a dessert in those days, cornbread was a favorite of young Abraham Lincoln.
May Day Pie -- A tradition for Derby Day, the yummy chocolate tart known as May Day Pie usually includes nuts, but kids will love choosing their favorite ingredients to include: chocolate chips, whipped cream, and pecans or walnuts.
"B is for Bluegrass: A Kentucky Alphabet"-- A primer on the state of Kentucky, from thoroughbreds to famous citizens. (Toddlers, pre-school, and school-aged)
"Tails from the Bluegrass" -- Follow Woody the Weiner Dog as he and his sister Chloe have adventures across the state. (Ages 4-8)
"Trapped! The Story of Floyd Collins" -- The tragic story of Floyd Collins, who in 1925 entered Sand Cave in the hope of mapping it and turning it into a tourist attraction. Collins became trapped, and the efforts to rescue him became the first national media frenzy. The outcome was a reminder of the dangers of early cave exploration. (Pre-teens and teens)

Pet rocks -- Kentucky's Mammoth Cave National Park is full of interesting rocks and rock formations, but you can't take the rocks with you. Create your own pet rock to take along on the trip.
