Wildlife Watching Tour in Hayden Valley Description
This ranger-led guided tour of one of the best places to spot bison, elk, coyote, and the occasional grizzly starts at 7 a.m., prime critter-spotting time. You'll take a brief hike to an overlook with a view of the valley where the park's massive bison herd often hangs out. You'll also see plenty of birds near the Yellowstone River. Be prepared for some steep hills on this walk, and for an entertaining guide knowledgeable about Yellowstone history, geology, and ecology.

Planning Notes
- Arrive on time. The tour will begin without you if you don't, so plan ahead and leave plenty of time to drive to the meeting place (the large pullout in Hayden Valley, 10 miles north of Fishing Bridge Junction and 6 miles south of Canyon.
- Dress warmly. Also, wear comfortable shoes, and expect cool, windy weather -- even in summer.
