Planning Notes
- The lake trail can be tricky to spot. Keep your eyes peeled for a small pullout about 1.5 miles south of Pebble Creek Campground on the Northeast Entrance road. The hike is easy, climbing about 150 feet, and is just over one mile round-trip.
- Fishing permits are required at Yellowstone Park. Before you head out with your tackle box, pick up a permit at any park ranger station, visitor center, or Yellowstone Park General Store. All adults and kids 16 and up are required to purchase either a $15 three-day permit, a $20 seven-day permit or a $35 season permit.
- Children under 15 may fish without a permit if they are fishing under the direct supervision of an adult who has a valid park fishing permit, or they can obtain a free permit signed by a responsible adult; with this permit, a child can fish without direct adult supervision. Check the park's website for additional details.
