International Crane Foundation Description
Nature and animal lovers will love this conservation-minded tour, where members of all fifteen crane species worldwide reside. Visitors get a chance to see Whooping Cranes (native to the Midwest) up close and personal as they nab fish from a pond at an open-air amphitheater exhibit. The guided tour is a must, as you're treated to the goofy posturing and even goofier calls made by the long-legged feathered creatures housed here. Afterward, take a hike along the Foundation's gently rolling trails and stop by the education center, where there are videos and a couple of interactive exhibits on display.

Kid Tips
Babies: The Center is a stroller-accessible venue, with wide, easy trails throughout.
School-Age Kids: A video of the Foundation's work to help whooping cranes migrate with the use of ultralight aircraft rigged to look like giant mother cranes is a huge hit with school-age kids. Look for the miniature theater alcove near the Whooping Crane Amphitheater.
