Upper Dells Boat Tour Description
The scenic beauty of the bluffs that embrace the coffee-colored waters of the Wisconsin River are the standout of this tour. Even better: the boat stops at two points (including kid-enticing Witches Gulch), allowing passengers to explore a slightly creepy, narrow sandstone canyon up close during short hikes. Along the way riders are treated to tales of the history of the Dells, including names for some of the rock formations resembling everything from a steamboat to Native American Chief Blackhawk.

Kid Tips
Babies: Strollers are allowed on the tour.
School-Age Kids: Eerie Witches Gulch and seeing the dog leap over Stand Rock will be high points for kids this age.
Pre-Teens & Teens: The tour is short enough and has enough diversions to hold most teens' attention spans.
Planning Notes
- Only one rest stop. There are no restrooms on the boats themselves, but there are facilities at the Witches Gulch stop midway through the tour.
- Bring money for snacks. There's a snack/souvenir shop at the end of the Witch's Gulch hike.
- Wear comfortable shoes. You'll be getting on and off the boat more than once and walking uphill to Stand Rock.
- Bring a camera or camcorder. The scenery on this journey is unparalleled in the Dells. Be ready as the captain approaches Stand Rock—you won't want to miss the dog leaping over the gap (he only does it once).
- Brochures for sale. Toward the end of the tour your captain will hand you a brochure detailing the history and high points of the tour. Don't be shy about declining if you're not interested in purchasing.
