Skyway Drive-In Description
Kids get a kick out of the nostalgia of an old-fashioned drive-in movie, and the Skyway Drive-In has nostalgia to spare. They still show the same old pre-movie cartoons and advertisements, and even sell some of the products in those ads. From the screen to the concession stand, the entire place feels like it's still 1950--the year the drive-in opened. Double features generally include a family-friendly flick first, followed by something geared toward older audiences.
Kid Tips
Babies: Drive-ins are perfect for babies. If little ones fuss, you can just tune your radio to the theatre's station, roll up your windows, and watch from the privacy of your vehicle.
Toddlers & Pre-K: Make an exit plan. The second movie is often way too late for little ones to be out, and is sometimes not kid-friendly. Make sure you're parked in a way that will allow you to escape in the dark without disturbing (or running over) other moviegoers.
Planning Notes
- Get there early. The screen isn't very big, and parking fills up fast. If you want a spot close to the screen (and the swingset in front where kids like to play before the movie starts), get there when the gates open — 45 minutes before showtime.
- Bring something to sit on. Kids won't have the best vantage point from the backseat of the car, so a blanket or lawn chairs makes the experience more fun for everyone.
