Bayfield Bike Route Description
This downtown Bayfield bike shop offers bikes to accommodate every age. Rent baby buggies, tag-alongs, three sizes of children's bikes, or standard adult hybrid bikes. Owner Tom Hart (a father of four) aims to get the whole family pedaling, eagerly recommends routes and destinations, and typically offers discounts for child-size bikes. The Brownstone Trail, the most popular off-road ride in the area, is conveniently close to the shop and perfect for families.
Kid Tips
Pre-Teens & Teens: Older kids will love the Orchard Loop, which includes 10 miles of rolling hills. Go from berry farm to berry farm by bicycle and refuel with succulent raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries.
Planning Notes
- Take the ferry. Rent bikes here, ride them to the ferry, then ride off the ferry onto Madeline Island.
- Go on an expedition. Bikes can be outfitted with baskets and panniers for day-long or multi-day expeditions.
- Car racks available. If you want to explore far-flung places on your bikes, car racks can also be rented.
- Check out Little Sand Bay. Located on the tip of the peninsula, Little Sand Bay offers great riding trails, including a little-used country road that families love. Rent bikes here and drive to the trails.
