Living Adventure Description
If you want to kayak in the Apostle Islands and don't have your own, Living Adventure will provide everything you need. Their guides are experienced (adventure-loving but safety-conscious), they offer state-of-the-art equipment, and they lead numerous trips (including visits to the spectacular sea caves and to a nearby shipwreck). Participants first get a short training and safety lesson in the lake, then begin the journey or are transported to another input area (depending on the trip).
Kid Tips
School-Age Kids: Kids ages 7 to 11 can go along but don't paddle. They sit in the middle of the boat in a three-person kayak.
Pre-Teens & Teens: A kayak trip to the sea caves or a shipwreck tour is more than worth the dent it will make in your family's wallet -- either one will create unforgettable memories. If your kids are really into kayaking, consider doing an overnight or multiday trip to the islands.
Planning Notes
- Expect to be sore. If you're not used to kayaking, you'll be sore after taking one of these trips.
- Not for young ones. Kids must be 7 years old to go on a kayaking trip.
- Take a safety course. If you aren't a seasoned kayaker and you're taking boats out alone, take a safety course ($50 with rental) before heading out. Safety courses without a rental are available for $60.
- Consider a family trip. While families can go on any trips offered, Living Adventures also offers several families-only trips throughout the summer.
