The Point Description
With huge rocks jutting out at all angles and sea caves partially submerged in the water below, the Point affords a gorgeous, sweeping view of Lake Superior from the southwest corner of the park. From this lookout you can see Michigan Island, and on a clear day all the way to the Porcupine Mountains in Michigan. Two hiking trails, Point Trail and Bay View Trail, originate here. Kids who aren't interested in the views will love to climb and play on the round stone bench while parents contemplate the horizon.
Kid Tips
School-Age Kids: The 30-foot sandstone cliffs will inspire awe in kids old enough to be interested in geology.
Planning Notes
- Bring a picnic. The scenery is so beautiful that you won't want to rush off to satisfy rumbling tummies. A picnic area is nearby.
