Motion to Go Description
Madeline Island has so little car traffic that it is a great place for families to explore by bicycle. The island's only bike rental business, Motion to Go, also has tag-alongs and kids' bikes and is conveniently located just two blocks from the ferry. They won't give you a lock with your rental, but don't worry -- to date they've never had a bike stolen on the island. If you're traveling with teens, the top thing to do on Madeline Island is rent mopeds (also available from Motion to Go) and tour the island's 45 miles of paved and unpaved roads.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: Trailers are available for kids too young to pedal themselves.
School-Age Kids: For short-legged cyclists younger than 6, your best bet is a tag-along. Even if your little one bicycles independently, Motion to Go doesn't have pint-sized bikes for kids under 6.
Pre-Teens & Teens: If you're not ready for your teen to be cruising on a moped, try a tandem bicycle instead.
Planning Notes
- Bring your driver's license. You'll need a current driver's license if you want to rent mopeds.
- By the hour or by the day. An adult bike rents for $8 per hour or $30 per day.
