Bayfield Heritage Ghost Tour Description
All in a dither, Mad Maud -- a local Bayfielder who has been dead for 67 years -- comes rushing forward wearing black gloves, a broad brim hat, and a long gray skirt, ready to take you on a historical walk through spooky sections of town as the sun sets. Children shiver with pleasurable fright as they learn about the gigantic ice creature feared by the Native Americans and the broken-hearted ghost who haunts Knight's Mansion. Spooky but not scary, the tour is a great family activity.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: The stories are dramatic enough that even children ages 4 and older can enjoy this activity.
Pre-Teens & Teens: "Actually, I really enjoyed that!" said one satisfied teen after taking the tour, which includes enough gory historical details to keep teens enthralled.
Planning Notes
- Wear your walking shoes. The pace is slow enough for everyone to keep up, but comfortable shoes will make the tour more enjoyable.
- Arrive early. Plan to arrive at the library, about 10 to 15 minutes before this fun tour starts, to ensure not a second is missed.
- Bring bug spray. The mosquitoes come out after sundown.
- Other tours. Bayfield Historic Tours also offers a historical tour of Bayfield's oldest places and a cemetery tour (cleverly dubbed "Dying to Get In") that explores the graves of the town's notable citizens.
