Westcott Bay Sculpture Park Description
Send kids on a treasure hunt to ring the bells and gongs in this 19-acre park, with over 100 large sculptures thoughtfully displayed in natural surroundings. Older kids will enjoy the creative, thought-provoking pieces, and younger kids can romp through the open, sunny meadows and then cool off in the shadier forest. Family Art Days occur every Saturday in the summer, when kids can drop in and make unique arts and crafts for free. Close to Roche Harbor, this is a lovely outdoor experience that's truly unique.
Kid Tips
Babies: Use an all-terrain stroller to navigate the paths in the park or bring baby in a carrier. Most of the paths are mown trails in the meadow. There are no baby changing facilities.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Although Family Art Days attract a lot of younger children, many of the crafts (with options like tile painting, tie dye, printmaking, and collage) are hugely popular with this age group.
Planning Notes
- Check the online map ahead of time. At 19 acres, this is a sizeable park. If you click various spots on the online map, you'll see a photo of each piece -- a great way to prioritize your trip by the pieces that interest you most. Printed maps are available at the entrance.
- Bring a camera. You won't find photo opportunities like this anywhere else.
- Bring a picnic. Spread out on one of the sculptures that double as benches (look for them near the pond).
- Bring sunscreen, hats, and bottled water. Most of the park is fully exposed.
- Use the portable toilets near the entrance. Once you enter the park, there are no facilities.
