Riverside Walk Description
Follow a stroller- and wheelchair-accessible path that parallels the Virgin River with several access points leading down to the cool water. Abundant vegetation and the proximity of the water make this hike shadier and cooler than others in the park. Tame squirrels and deer and easy-to-read signs explaining the area's geology make this one of the most popular family walks in the park. The trail ends at the water where an in-river hike, the Narrows, begins
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: The winding path and slow ascent is just right for this age.
Pre-Teens & Teens: In the warm summer months, preteens and teens will want to hike the Narrows after they see everyone else doing it. The trail starts at the end of the Riverside Walk.
Planning Notes
- One mile each way. The whole walk typically takes 1 to 2 hours round trip if walking at a steady pace.
- River access. If you're interested in a shorter walk, head down to the river at one of the access points along the way.
- Suit up (and bring a towel). Take a splash in the shallow Narrows. Much of the year the water is too cold to dip in, but in the summer it's just right.
- Go early. To avoid the heat and the crowds in the summer.
