Temple Square Description
Going to Salt Lake City and not visiting Temple Square is like going to Rome and not visiting the Vatican. In the heart of downtown, Temple Square has dozens of buildings to visit, including a geneological library where you can research your family history. Volunteers (young Mormon missionaries) greet you, give you a map, and offer advice about what to see. Highlights include the fountains, gardens, and "Legacy," a documentary movie about the Pioneer trek westward.

Toddlers & Pre-K: The 20-minute tour of the Beehive House (Brigham Young's former residence) includes a look at old-fashioned toys and a lemon drop candy at the end.
School-Age Kids: "Legacy," a one-hour movie about the Pioneer trek westward, plays at the North Visitor's Center. Interesting for ages eight and up.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Give them a peek into their genealogy by having them build a family tree on the computers at the FamilySearch Center.
Planning Notes
- Bring Family Information. The Family History Library and Family Search Center on Temple Square is the world's largest geneological history repository.
- Arrive early. Gates open at 9 a.m. Crowds are largest in the afternoon.
- Visit in December. The area glows with thousands of spectacular lights, crèches in the museum, and holiday activities for all ages.
- Hear the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. The world-famous choir has open rehearsals Thursday nights from 8 to 9:30 and performs on Sundays at 9:15 a.m.
