Discovery Gateway Description
This open, airy museum is a wonder to walk into. The main level has a 30-foot beehive for interactive family play; faucets, rubber duckies, ping-pong balls, and strainers in the water play area (aprons keep clothes "dry"); and a tot-sized town. The upper floor has all sorts of clever exhibits, including a room with props (like boots to add sound effects to a story) and laundry line pulleys for sending messages balcony to balcony. And on the roof there's a helicopter to "fly"!

Kid Tips
Babies: Changing tables are available in both the men's and women's restrooms on the main floor, and the museum has two family restrooms.
Toddlers & Pre-K: Hatch, Waddle, and Fly is a special play area just for children ages three and under. Inside the Hatch are bouncy chairs, books, a beaver's dam, a play canoe, rocking horses, and dress-up clothes.
School-Age Kids: The main floor is geared towards the youngest set, so head upstairs with older kids. Don't miss the downstairs climbing wall, though, which is just right for 8- and 9-year-old finger grips.
Planning Notes
- Bring your stroller. The museum is spacious enough that there's room to maneuver even when it's crowded, and elevators make it easy to move between floors.
- Ease your load. Store your unneeded belongings in lockers on the main level of the museum (25 cents).
- Bring food. Snacking is allowed on the rooftop terrace.
- Shop 'til you drop. The Gateway Mall is right next door.
