Discovery Gateway Mall Description
The Gateway is a mall like no other—even if your family is allergic to shopping, make a point of visiting at least once during your vacation. A three-dimensional outdoor mall arranged along open walkways and stairways, the Gateway is every shopper's dream (approximately 130 stores and restaurants) and every family's fun entertainment zone (splash in the fountain on the plaza, run up and down the stairs, listen to free jazz, take in a movie on one of the 12 screens at the Megaplex). There's something for everyone here, from expensive jewelry to cheap Salt Lake souvenirs.
Kid Tips
Babies: A Gymboree and Build-A-Bear Workshop are popular with the under two set.
Toddlers & Pre-K: Bring bathing suits and a towel. The fountain in the middle of the mall is a great place for kids to splash around.
Planning Notes
- Jazz on Thursday nights. The Gateway has jazz on the plaza near the fountain on Thursdays in June and July from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
- Go to the planetarium or the children's museum. Both are at the Gateway, which means you can cool your heels in air conditioning after all the shopping.
- Store hours vary. Call ahead to confirm.
