Review for The Alamo
What we loved:
Very clean, educational, and helpful guides.
What we didn't love:
If you time it when tour bus get their it can get crowded.
The grounds were beautiful and well kept. The bathrooms were very clean. As a matter of fact you are not allowed to bring drinks into the buildings. We just got done eating at the Rainforest Cafe and bought a souvenir cup and my daughter did not want to throw it away. We left it outside the door and were coming back for it. When we went back to retrieve the cup it was gone. We looked around and saw it safely outside the trash can. The police officer guarding the building or maintenance put it there. We also saw the officer blow his whistle for some little one laying down in front of the building. It was considered disrespectful. If you had questions there were wonderful museum helpers to answer your questions. The gift shop was very well balanced with educational things, post cards, nice t-shirts, and toys for the little ones. They had sale prices and some things that were museum priced or a little hight
The feeling we walked away with is how proud and respectful the state of Texas is about what historical happening took place their. I would recommend it very much and I would say 2 hours for sure. You can walk to The Alamo from your hotel if you are staying on the Riverwalk.
