SeaWorld San Antonio Description
The really big show has a really big star named Shamu. The killer whale leaps, breaches, and casts trainers into the air as part of a choreographed musical entitled "Believe." Kitschy? A little. But, you'd have to be a real grouch to be unmoved by the big guy, who -- despite weighing about 12,000 pounds -- seems to momentarily float in the air. Kids sit rapt and wide-eyed (even jaded teens who think they can't be impressed by anything). While Shamu is the reason to come, additional rides and shows (particularly the too-cute "Waggin' Tales") make a perfectly lovely afternoon.

Kid Tips
School-Age Kids: Kids this age love the animal-feeding areas and close encounters with dolphins, sea lions, and others.
Pre-Teens & Teens: For some thrills, make sure they check out Atlantis, a novel water ride.
Planning Notes
- Watch where you sit. The first few rows are the splash zone, which is a euphemism for soaked.
- Get thrills early. Because thrill rides here are few, lines for them are long. Make sure to hit them when the park first opens.
- Get wet. On a hot day, take a dip in the Lost Lagoon water park next door. Admission is included in your one-day pass.
- Save some money. Check the website for savings on tickets.
