San Antonio Children's Museum Description
The good news about this happy place is that it's got three floors of activities that are sure to appease even the crankiest preschooler. The bad news: you might never get them past the first floor. Kids have been known to make a beeline for exhibit one, a colorful replica trolley car parked right next to the ticket counter. If you can move them onward, they'll have a blast playing pilot or air controller in the replica plane, running the Kidz Caf‚, or stepping inside a life-sized bubble. Your biggest problem will be getting them to go home.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: Like any place that wows the senses, the museum can send toddlers into overload mode. Leave before they spontaneously combust.
Planning Notes
- Take it slow. It is possible to rush through and "do" the entire museum in two hours. Don't. What's the point of going to a fun place if you're going to make it a job?
- Culinary adventures. The museum is a block away from the River Walk. Grab lunch before or after for the perfect day.
- Think age-appropriately. This place was designed for ages 2-10.

Reviews of San Antonio Children's Museum
Not worth it

What we didn't love:
Total chaos
As a public educator for the past ten years I have been to many children's museums. This one was by far the worst I have visited. The idea is to promote self exploration but instead it is total chaos. Older groups of children are allowed to roam freely and therefore run over the little ones. Most of the stations are in rough condition due to children not being supervised. I'm all for hands on learning but when children just run from one thing to the next without actually doing the station correctly then it isn't educational. Instead this museum is being used as a daycare for parents to drop off their children and allowing them to run wild. Read More
