River Walk Description
For most travelers, a trip to San Antonio means a stroll down the 2.8-mile River Walk (Paseo del Rio), the beautifully landscaped -- and heavily tourist-populated -- stretch that frames the jade-green San Antonio River. The river originates from springs located on the grounds of the Incarnate Word College and winds through the city's downtown, one level below its busy streets.

Kid Tips
Babies: The River Walk isn't very stroller friendly. It's hard to find a working elevator to take you down to the walk and, once there, the sidewalks are thin, bumpy, and often congested.
Toddlers & Pre-K: Be prepared if your preschooler gets a bit tired of the scene after half an hour or so.
Planning Notes
- Dine riverside. There are plenty of kid-friendly theme restaurants in the vicinity.
