The Witte Museum Description
If you don't tell your kids this is a museum, they may never know they're getting an education; they'll be too busy with the fun, interactive displays that explain the area's natural history and plant and animal life, including dinosaur skeletons and cave drawings. The grounds include four homes and a log cabin, which show what early settlers' life was like here 150 years ago, and the science tree house, a four-story structure on the banks of the San Antonio River. Just a short drive north of downtown San Antonio, the museum also has a Texas Wild exhibit featuring the animals of Texas, and an outdoor hummingbird-and-butterfly garden.
