Natural Bridge Caverns Description
If being lowered down 30 feet through a 22-inch cave opening is your cup of tea, you're in luck. Grab a flashlight and some rappelling gear, and head underground on this 3-hour cave adventure tour. Kids have a blast shimmying through the subterranean caverns, happily getting dirty as they explore the wild side of this system. Trips come with equipment, knee pads, and a helmet, plus a guide and, more importantly, a flashlight. For the rest of us, more traditional walking tours have equally thrilling scenery, but without the squeeze.
Kid Tips
Babies: Strollers (umbrella variety only) are welcome on walking tours. However, there are stairs -- backpack-type carriers are better advised.
Toddlers & Pre-K: You're unlikely to see a bat here, which is either a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your child's disposition. You will see plenty of prehistoric bat poop, however.
School-Age Kids: Plan to spend some extra bucks on the mining and outdoor climbing activities. It's unavoidable.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Adventure tours are expensive, but sure to please.
Planning Notes
- Reserve ahead. South Cavern Adventure Tours are open to guests 13 and up only. The less strenuous Discovery Adventure Tour requires some crawl and slide actions, and is open to those 8 and up. Both are by reservation only.
- Take a stroll. Walking Tours (like the North Cavern Tour) are open to all.
- Recommended equipment. Wear good walking shoes. Sturdy hiking boots and jeans are required for adventure tours.
