Water Wall Description
It's manmade and in the middle of the city, but this towering cascade of water (it literally is a wall of water) is surprisingly like an oasis -- the thundering sound of water and the temple-like structure have a calming, almost hypnotic effect that feels like you've traveled to a far-off place. Have kids climb up on one of the posts and appreciate the sound, stand near the spray on a hot day and cool off, or do neither and instead grab a Frisbee and appreciate the whole thing from the sprawling lawn out front.
Kid Tips
Babies: This one can't be beat as a sensory experience, although the thundering sound may be a bit much for some. Timid wee ones may be happy experiencing it from the lawn.
Toddlers & Pre-K: You don't have to stand too close to feel the refreshing spray. For some kids, that's the best part.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Environmentally-concerned kids will be interested to know the wall runs through 11,000 gallons of water per minute, and all of it's recycled.
Planning Notes
- Full force. The best time to appreciate the wall is on weekends, when it's fully operational. Weekdays, the wall only operates on one side.
- Shop until you drop. The wall is but a few steps away from another architectural wonder, the Galleria shopping mall. The mall is enormous, with two hotels, hundreds of stores and restaurants, and an ice skating rink.
