Ghost Tours of Galveston Description

Scary stories, spectral visions, the pirate Jean Lafitte -- they're all part of the Ghost Tours of Galveston experience. Colorful guide Dash Beardsley, a vision in black with a long coat sweeping behind him, leads the group along the historic Strand, past gas-lit lamps and horse-drawn carriages, telling about old Galveston and the ghosts who still reside there. It's only a moderately scary romp, with Dash pointing out where Civil War soldiers still guard or where a headless guy searches for his noggin. Will you actually see a ghost? Probably not, but Dash's earnest, eccentric style makes you believe it's possible.

Kid Tips

School-Age Kids: Dash likes kids and is happy to answer questions.

Pre-Teens & Teens: The tour is a great romp for a group of older kids, who will enjoy being scared en mass. Expect them to be more spooked by the causes of the haunting than by the ghosts themselves -- Dash goes into great detail about the numerous deaths from the Great Storm of 1900.

Planning Notes

Check the schedule. Tours run on Dash time, meaning schedules change week to week. Call ahead to ensure there's a tour during your visit.
Long walk. The trip is billed as about a two-hour tour, but the adventure can hover close to three hours start to finish. Consider young attention spans accordingly.

I have been on several ghost tours, but nothing like Dash Beardsleys. This man has went far and beyond to gain the facts of the mysteries of the hauntings of Galveston Island. We have all heard the stories but the truth unravels on any one of Dashs tours. My favorite is the Original Ghost Tour of Galveston; a walking tour of the Strand district. Dash is an amazing tour guide and he keeps you tuned in. Honestly; when the tour is over you want to keep going for more. The history and the mystery keeps you indulged and the puzzles of the stories are put together. I will keep coming back and doing more tours in the future; you can count on it. If you havent been on one of Dashs tours; you havent been on a REAL ghost tour. Read More
