Dallas Arboretum Description
The designers surely never intended it, but the Dallas Arboretum may be the best place ever for kids to play "step on a crack": the huge slate walkway that connects the various gardens to one another provides tons of entertainment. The gardens are easy to navigate and offer plenty of surprises for kids, from the Texas-themed play village to a zero-entry fountain that gets its water from spitting frogs — a perfect way to cool off on a hot Texas day.
Kid Tips
Babies: A beautiful background for easy strolling with baby.
School-Age Kids: Kids as old as 11 will dash between the teepee, cabins and play structures in Texas Town and the Pioneer Village — both excellent places for parents to relax as the kids explore frontier life.
Planning Notes
- Pay to park. Bring $5.
- Eat up. The Arboretum's café serves up some great kid food along with its more grown-up entrees; selections include hot dogs and PB&J sandwiches along with yogurt and fruit.
