River Raft Resort (Tubing the Guadalupe) Description

Locals who venture to this meandering river know it as Mother Nature's water ride. Warm days, the water teems with kids and grownups floating along in tubes, enjoying the scenery and the water's steady flow. The full Guadalupe trips take a few hours, with outfitters on hand to help figure out the right route (some run faster than others). Feel free to stop for detours -- like a picnic on the river bank (an extra tube can be rented to bring the cooler), or a Tarzan leap from one of the tree swings.

Kid Tips

Toddlers & Pre-K: Children must be age 5 and up. Young children are advised to rent a tube with a bottom, ensuring they don't fall through. Life jackets are provided.

Planning Notes

  • Pick a hot day. The water hovers in the upper 60s, meaning it's chilly. On a warm day, it's refreshing. On a cold day, not so much.
  • Beware rough water. Rough currents as well as other weather conditions can affect operations, so call ahead to ensure they're open.
  • Protect your footsies. Water shoes are recommended.
  • Check out other crafts. River Rafts also rents rafts, inflatable and traditional kayaks.

Just the Facts

Hours: Daily 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Closed in winter.

Fees: $10 - $20

Reviews of River Raft Resort (Tubing the Guadalupe)

Facilities and courtesy are wonderful!

By doreen1nadine December 11, 2011

What we loved:
great view of Guadalupe River

What we didn't love:
couldnt stay longer

We have stayed in an RV site at Rio Raft & Resort several times and have also rented a large cabin for a family reunion. Facilities and courtesy are wonderful! We also cannot say enough good things about the wonderful view and great "walk-about space" near the Guadalupe River. Of course, the fact that we are trout fishers in our family only adds to the allure for this favorite place of ours to stay in the winter months Reviewed December 10, 2011 Read More
