Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum Description
Engaging kids in history is easier if you can grab their attention. This cavernous institution does just that, wowing kids with big-as-life models (check out the recreated Alamo, complete with battle scars) and a whiz-bang history flick, "Star of Destiny." This film would make any theme-park proud, with "4D" elements like rumbling theater seats and rain. Modern lore includes Texas contributions to oil and space travel. Happily, this place makes it fun.

Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: The place is made for fifth graders and up; younger kids will likely find running up the granite stairs of the three-floor rotunda the most entertaining.
Planning Notes
- Separate admission required. Ask about combination tickets for "Star of Destiny" and the IMAX theater if you plan to do it all.
- Buy ahead. Theater tickets are usually available upon arrival, but buy online in advance if you're coming during a peak time (school vacations).
