Austin Duck Adventures Description
Outside of a "Spy Kids" movie, it's hard to imagine a land vehicle that can spontaneously turn into a boat. So, it's worth the price of Duck Boat passage just to see kids' faces as the vehicle heads toward water, and then goes into Lake Austin. History is the purported excuse for the trip, and kids will see Austin's important sights, including the state capitol and the Bat Bridge. But most kids just love the adventure and the affable drivers, who tell loveably corny jokes and lead "group quacks" at passersby.
Kid Tips
School-Age Kids: Quackers, duck-bill-shaped whistles that make the appropriate duck sound, are provided for kids to keep. Count on hearing them after the trip -- a lot.
Planning Notes
- Avoid January. When Lake Austin is lowered to control weeds (roughly late January), Duck Boats do not make water landings.
- Reservations advised. Booking 2 or 3 days ahead is preferable but not required.
