The Hermitage Description
Similar to Belle Mead, this restored 1837 plantation also features livestock barns, slave cabins, and the graves of President Andrew Jackson and his family. Best for older kids and teens, who will enjoy watching the archaeologists excavating on site. The audio tour brings the history of the antebellum South vividly to life.

School-Age Kids: Kids who are interested in what life like was like "back then" will enjoy this stop.
Pre-Teens & Teens: When they're maxed out on history, go for a walk in the lovely gardens. Close by you'll find Andrew and Rachel Jackson's tomb.

- Leave the camera in the car. They're not permitted at the Hermitage.
- Take advantage of the docents. In costume and located throughout the Hermitage, they'll answer any questions you have.

Hours: Open daily, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., April 1-Oct. 15, and 9 a.m.-4:30 p. m. from Oct. 16-March 31. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the third week in January.
