Babies: Babies are best toted instead of strolled around Rock City; there are plenty of hikes and walks that can't be navigated by a stroller.

Toddlers & Pre-K: Delight them with a gnome hunt in the gardens and looking for deer in Deer Park -- they'll be sure to see more than a few.

School-Age Kids: Hold on -- the adventurous ones will undoubtedly try to swing the swinging bridge, and they'll have plenty of fun joining in the gnome hunt with little ones.

Pre-Teens & Teens: Even the most affected of teens will be in awe of the mountain-top views, ponder their crush at Lover's Leap, and get a kick out of squeezing through the tight spaces in the Needle's Eye.

Planning Notes

• Plan your time. Rock City is one of those attractions where the time gets away from you. Plan accordingly.
• Buy a barn. There's a plethora of painted barns to pick from in the gift store. C'mon, you've got to have one.
• Buy the package. The combination tickets for Rock City, Incline Railway, and Ruby Falls will save you some money if you plan to see all three.
