Brookgreen Gardens Description
If Myrtle Beach is all glitz, neon, and fire-breathing dragons, Brookgreen (30 miles to the south) is the anti-Myrtle Beach. Kids who've reached sensory overload will be back to their old selves as they run along quiet paths and check out the stately and whimsical statues. The Low Country Zoo, a favorite with kids, is accessible for strollers, but can also be toured by boat. Kids play on statues and hide in wooden nooks in the Garden Room for Children while weary parents rest their feet.

Kid Tips
Babies: They'll be fine here. There are hours of paths to stroll down, and the peacefulness might be a welcome change from the bustle of Myrtle Beach.
Toddlers & Pre-K: Take advantage of the free shuttle. Their legs will thank you.
School-Age Kids: Daily programs like "Mother Nature's Café" and "Meet the Animals" are designed especially for kids in this age group.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Artsy teens might enjoy bringing a camera and trying their hand at nature photography.
