NASCAR SpeedPark Description
If you take your little speed demon to Myrtle Beach, you need to make a pit stop at NASCAR SpeedPark. Boasting seven tracks, ranging from a 200-foot starter to one with half-scale NASCAR cars, the park allows everyone from rookies to veterans to enjoy the thrill of being behind the wheel. Kids get a special glint in their eyes when they take their first turn around the track, driving all by themselves. Other attractions include bumper boats and mini-golf, and the arcade is a big draw when it's too hot out.
Kid Tips
Babies: This place is loud and hot and can lead to cranky babies.
Toddlers & Pre-K: There are a few attractions here suitable for toddlers, especially if they like cars, but the SpeedPark is more geared toward slightly older kids.
School-Age Kids: They'll be able to drive on most of the tracks but check the age and height requirements.
Pre-Teens & Teens: A NASCAR lover's dream! Thunder Road, a half-mile track that simulates the racing experience, requires drivers to be 16 years old, hold a driver's license, and be 64 inches tall.
Planning Notes
- Summer warning. It gets hot on the tracks (and in the stands, where parents film their kids going around for the tenth time). Try to go early in the day, and bring a hat and sunscreen.
- Splurge. The all-day ticket is expensive but the individual tickets go very quickly.
