PNC Park Description
What makes PNC Park the perfect baseball stadium for families? For starters, the well-designed stadium (one of the smallest in the majors) doesn't have a bad seat anywhere—you don't just get a great view of the game, you get a great view of downtown Pittsburgh. There's also a playground for kids who need a break from the game; a hilarious between-innings pierogi race where four mascots dressed as the popular Pittsburgh dumplings dart around the stadium; and fireworks over the river after many games. And lest we forget, there's the main attraction: big league baseball.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: Outside food and drinks are allowed; if you'd rather your toddler have milk than soda, bring it along.
School-Age Kids: Brush up on the careers of Pirates legends Honus Wagner, Roberto Clemente, and Willie Stargell before the game, then find their statues outside the park.
Planning Notes
- Extra fun. A Kid's Fun Zone on Federal Street adds to the kid-friendly line-up before Sunday home games, where you'll find moonwalks and other activities.
- Arrive by boat. The Gateway Clipper offers round trips from Station Square to the stadium for just $10.
- A taste of Pittsburgh. PNC Park features old stadium standbys like hot dogs and popcorn, but also some local and regional delicacies, like Primanti Bros. sandwiches, pierogi, and kielbasa.
- Tour the park. For a behind-the-scenes look at the stadium, purchase tickets ($6 adults; $4 children 6 and up) for a 90-minute tour. Buy tickets at the main ticket window or in advance by calling (412) 325-4700.
