Just Ducky Tour Description
There's no better way to get a sense of Pittsburgh and its three rivers than with a Just Ducky Tour. Climb aboard a rejiggered World War II amphibious vehicle and enjoy a colorful tour. Knowledgeable guides point out interesting sites (like the building whose tower flashes "Pittsburgh" in Morse Code at night) and share kid-pleasing trivia (like the fact that the world's first Big Mac was created in Pittsburgh). Kids squeal with delight as passengers quack (yes, quack) at pedestrians. The highlight of the trip? All kids onboard get a turn at the wheel.
Kid Tips
Babies: There aren't any seatbelts on the vehicle, so if you're not comfortable holding your baby in a moving vehicle, this isn't a good choice.
Toddlers & Pre-K: Even kids as young as three get to drive the boat.
School-Age Kids: Help your kids research DUKW amphibious vehicles from WWII ahead of time and they will be amazed that they are actually riding in one. Start here: http://www.transchool.eustis.army.mil/Museum/DUKW.htm.
Planning Notes
- Arrive early. Arrive 30 minutes before your reservation time so that you can pick up your tickets and so you don't end up in the back of the vehicle, where the seats are smaller and have no shade.
- Bring your camera. The guide will take your child's picture as he or she drives the boat.
