The Cuckoo's Nest Magic Shop Description
The philosophy of this shop is that everyone who walks in the door deserves to see a magic trick. Kids are wowed by clerks who make coins magically jump from one cup to another, sticks break and then repair themselves, and pennies that transform into dimes. Luckily for those mystified kids, they can buy supplies for the tricks for just a few dollars each—and then take them home and wow their friends.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: Look for items to please the younger set in the front of the store, like giant balloon bubble kits.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Just a couple blocks away at 1304 East Carson Street is the Groovy Pop Culture Emporium, filled with memorabilia from television shows, movies, and rock bands.
Planning Notes
- Daytime destination. East Carson is home not only to some very cool stores, but also to a number of bars. Stick to daytime visits with kids.
- More than magic. The store also sells props for clowns and jugglers.
- Near a Pittsburgh institution. Get a taste of a legendary restaurant by stopping by Primanti Bros. at 1832 East Carson Street, which is famous for sandwiches piled high with cole slaw and French fries.
