Abe's Buggy Rides Description
Abe's is a combination buggy ride provider, petting zoo, and miniature snack bar. Catering primarily to families, you can choose to ride in authentic Amish buggies of varying sizes for 20 to 75 minutes. Any ride longer than 20 minutes will take you under a covered bridge and past Amish farms and houses. Have your driver sign your feedback card upon your return and you'll get a homemade cookie or whoopee pie.
Kid Tips
Babies: Buggies are not built for strollers -- you'll need to leave the pram behind and carry baby with you. The ride is surprisingly smooth; not as bumpy as you might expect.
Toddlers & Pre-K: Animals, a buggy ride, and a big pond with koi fish. Need we say more?
School-Age Kids: Shhh ... don't tell anyone, but if you sit up front, the driver just might let you take over the reins for a bit. (Don't worry, Mom. The horse is a pro at this.)
Pre-Teens & Teens: Raucous peals of laughter are guaranteed if the horse does what horses do while on the ride.
Planning Notes
- No reservations required. If you have less than 10 people, you can just show up. Don't worry about waiting -- the cow, goats, and chickens will keep kids entertained. A large swing and picnic bench provide seating.
- Buggy facts. Buggies can seat anywhere from four people (including the driver) to six or so.
- If the weather is bad, call ahead. If inclement weather rolls in the facility shuts down, so call ahead if it's particularly rainy, cold, or hot.
Just the Facts
Hours: Mon.-Sat., 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
Fees: $10 - $20

br/My Husband and I started our stay in Bird in Hand with a buggy ride with Abes Buggy Rides. br/The ride was only 20 minutes long and I thought we were going to get hit with traffic. We br/were under the impression that we would mainly be on country roads. A good half of the ride was in town or subdivision houses. Our drivers name was Irvin. The big surprise came when he told us the owners were not Amish. Abes says on their site an Amish man bought the ride, but no Amish own it now. They dont tell you that. After our ride we went and ate a restruant down the road. When the waitress asked how our stay was going we explained about our buggy ride and the only enjoyable part was getting off. She informed us that the owners are NOT Amish, too Read More

I just returned from a fantastic vacation with my two daughters ages 8 and 6 and my mother in Lancaster County. We took family.coms suggestion for Abes buggy rides. We opted for the 45 minute rides but would take the 1.5 hour ride next time. The staff, drivers were very friendly, informative, educational and made a few stops for us including an Amish Farm house. My kids sat in front, drove the buggy, and throughly enjoyed every aspect of this attraction. We would recommend and definately do this again with Abes buggy rides. Read More

This was great - a relaxing and fun thing to do with kids between say 3 and 9 -- older kids will yawn. Read More
