Classical Chinese Garden Description
This garden is a peaceful, beautiful place with many lovely trees, plants, and sculptures to keep the whole family busy. Kids will enjoy scampering down the garden's paths as adults admire the bonsais and exotic plants. With some rotating botanical exhibits, bridges, pathways, and Asian touches everywhere, there's a serenity about the garden that will make even the most rambunctious child find his inner Zen. But even if he doesn't, there is a lot of space for running about and cool places to explore.

Babies: The paths in this garden are just right for carrying a baby, and many are stroller- accessible as well.
Toddlers & Pre-K: Young kids will enjoy running around the garden and will especially like the bridges over Zither Lake.
School-Age Kids: The Chinese Garden has none of the over-the-top electronic stimulus that you often find for this age group, which means that your school-aged kid might find it boring (or may like it all the more).
Pre-Teens & Teens: Have your older child choose a tea at the tea house and learn about tea steeping and pouring. They'll enjoy the garden and participating in this exotic ritual.
Planning Notes
- Enjoy Chinatown as well. The Chinese Garden is in Portland's small but fascinating Chinatown. Kids and grown-ups will also enjoy looking at the Chinese clothing and paintings in the numerous Chinese-owned stores near the garden.
