Lincoln City Beach Description
Join the hundreds of people who go down to the Lincoln City beach front (all seven miles of broad white sand) to beach comb at one of several shoals of rock exposed by the low tide. The hermit crabs, anemones, barnacles, fish, and other sea life exposed during low tide will fascinate kids of all ages (and their parents, too), and only the in-coming tide will dissuade them from their shell searching for one-of-a-kind souvenirs.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: The stretch of beach at the D-River Wayside is popular with the youngest set because of the abundant marine and human life—you're apt to see some amazing kite flying when the wind is up.
School-Age Kids: The tidal pools are a great complement to a visit to the Oregon Coast Aquarium.
Planning Notes
- No lifeguards on duty. The beach has no patrols because people don't usually brave the cold water (50 degrees at its warmest), and sneaky waves and powerful undertows make the water a bit dangerous.
- Restrooms at the beach access points only. A shower is available at the D-River Wayside for washing sand off feet, but no changing tables.
- Bring water shoes. They make walking on the shoals much easier.
