Uppertown Firefighters Museum Description
With its parking bays full of surprisingly old fire trucks in beautiful condition, a hose-drying tower, fireman's pole, and a battering ram to bump against a fake door, the old Astoria fire house will be a surefire hit with any kid who dreams of becoming a fire fighter. Head upstairs to visit the children's museum, a well-equipped play space for babies and toddlers with arts and crafts, a toy bank and kitchen, an exhibit on the human body, blocks, and dress-up clothes.
Kid Tips
Babies: Plenty of soft toys and rug space for crawlers await upstairs in the children's museum.
School-Age Kids: All but the youngest school-age kids will be bored by the children's museum, but they'll be in awe of the antique fire trucks (from horse-drawn to little old red engines) and especially the modern one they can climb on.
Planning Notes
- The museum is a bit outside of the downtown area, but right on the tourist trolley line.
- Bring snacks. There is no food service on the premises.
