The Orchard at Altapass Description
There's no better place to learn about Appalachian culture than at the Orchard at Altapass. First, there are the extraordinary hayrides where guides tell engaging traditional stories. Listen to authentic regional music (think fiddles and banjoes); sample fudge, jam, and jellies; indulge in some of the many varieties of apples growing in the orchard in the fall; and watch craft makers. Visiting the Orchard is a way to experience a cross-section of what Southern Appalachia has to offer all in one afternoon.

Kid Tips
Babies: There's plenty to explore with a baby here.
Toddlers & Pre-K: Think twice about the hayride. Although they might like the ride, the stories could be a little bit long for kids under 3.
School-Age Kids: Everything here is perfect for this age group. Enjoy!
