ClimbMax Description
ClimbMax boasts challenging climbing walls on the inside and outside of its downtown building. Outside, intrepid teens climb a wall that tops off on the roof. Inside are a variety of interesting walls of various degrees of difficulty. You can wear a harness and learn to climb with ropes, but many kids have the best time just "bouldering" -- free climbing up to 12 feet from the ground. A certain 9-year-old had to be dragged away even after several hours climbing the "cave," the "ship," and even the walls on the way to the bathroom.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: Kids as young as two or three can start to boulder. But make sure that you're shadowing them so that they don't end up below other climbers on a wall.
School-Age Kids: Boundless energy? Kids will not run out of challenges here.
Pre-Teens & Teens: This is a favorite activity for active teens.
Planning Notes
- Convenient location. Since ClimbMax is right downtown, it's easy to combine it with other activities.
- Climb some real boulders. If you're in town longer, ClimbMax can guide you on a family rock climbing adventure, geared toward your family's level of fitness ... and courage!
- Sign the dotted line. You'll have to sign a waiver for your kids to climb.
